NORWICH – As the summer continues to creep on and the heat – and rain – continues to pour down, one thing stays consistent, the All American BMX team can always be found at the tracks each and every weekend.
This past weekend, head coach, Dave Lawson took his ever-growing team to four separate races – all with big implications on standings.
With a race at Grippen Park BMX on Friday night, July 28, followed by a Saturday morning race at Valley BMX in Athens, PA – coupled with a trip back to Grippen Park BMX for a NYS Qualifier race, and a NYS Qualifier race at Champion Speedway BMX in Nichols.
Needless to say, the weekend was jam-packed with race – and notably all but the first race on Friday were NYS Qualifier races.
Although the pattern of racing each and every weekend hasn’t changed for the team, they have seen some changes along the way. Elijah O’Neill has stepped in to join the team as their newest rider – ripping off a second-place finish in his very first race on Friday.
Another big change that will be taking place is ‘Factory’ Phil Sheridan will be continuing his racing in South Carolina this coming fall, as his family is relocating to the area.
“Phillip was my very first rider to join All American BMX. His parents, the Lawrence family and myself form the organization,” said coach Lawson. “He has become a excellent racer and a good role model to our younger riders. We are going to miss energy and smiles on and off the track. I’m glad we will have him for the Northeast Gold Cup Finals in Kingston New York, in September.”
