Catholic Charities reaches out through ‘Picnic Basket Bonanza’
NORWICH – Catholic Charities of Chenango County is hosting an event geared toward restoring the fun and excitement of summer.
The organization’s “Summer Picnic Basket Bonanza” is will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, at Catholic Charities’ 3 O’Hara Dr. location in Norwich.
The event features free food, games, prizes, and a chance to learn about Catholic Charities’ programming which could help take the strain out of summer.
“It’s really important for us to engage the community in what we can offer them,” said Tiffani Gager, Medicaid Service Coordinator at Catholic Charities of Chenango County.
“There’s a lot that we offer that people don’t know about, such as Medicaid service coordination, and home health,” she added. “We also have Roots and Wings that offers our food pantry and assistance in applying for SNAP and other programs, as well as having a thrift store.”
Gager said it’s important for the community to know there’s a support system for people in need.
The Summer Picnic Basket Bonanza includes free hotdogs, free fidget spinners for kids, and rock painting.
There will also be free summer baskets stocked with food, utensils, and family games for anyone who pre-registers. To pre-register, contact Catholic Charities at 334-8244.
