Assault, drugs, burglary: Grand jury indicts eight

NORWICH – A Chenango County grand jury convened Wednesday and opted to indict eight individuals on felony level charges relating to assault, heroin, and burglary.

• Joseph P. Hughes, Joseph C. Hughes, and Nicholas R. Hughes were indicted on the charges of assault in the first degree, a class B felony; and assault in the second degree, a class C felony.

The trio stands accused of striking a man multiple times on Silver Street in June. Per the indictment, it’s alleged that they acted with a depraved indifference to human life, and created a grave risk of death that caused serious physical injury to the victim.

It was said the victim received multiple face and skull fractures, as well as a brain bleed.

• Two women, Faziem E. Jenkins and Tiffany M. Vallance, face the class C felony charge of burglary in the second degree.

It is alleged on or about July 15, 2017, Jenkins and Vallance did knowingly enter and remain unlawfully in a home with the intent to commit a crime. The pair is accused of stealing money and personal belongings from within the home.

• Adam J. Daring and Kristine M. Tiffany both are accused of selling heroin for months in the City of Norwich.

Both Daring and Tiffany were indicted on the charge of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.

It’s alleged that during the months of May and June, in the City of Norwich, while acting in concert with another, both Daring and Tiffany knowingly and unlawfully sold heroin.

• Jessica Sepulveda is facing charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony; and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor.

It is alleged that Sepulveda, on July 18, 2017 in the Town of Coventry, did possess nine baggies of heroin with the intent to sell it, while acting in concert with another.

All of the above will be arraigned in Chenango County Court, and are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
