This writer had the joy of a family vacation at Kennebunkport, ME. Everyday I jogged I had wonderful views of the great former President George Bush’s complex which is on a rocky little peninsula. There was one little road to it with a Secret Service Guardhouse. We also saw it from the sea when we took a Lobster Boat Trip. Fascinating. As a veteran I respect George so much.
He had been shot down in the S Pacific. Funny thing too I am way over in Maine and who do I meet in a beautiful little stone summer only used Wildwood Chapel but Rev John Pooler and his wife. In church I also learned of a service group called “Tip of the Spear” which collects items troops on the front lines can use. More to follow about this group.
Our Hero of Greene is Levi Roe. He was born in Worcester, NY in 1909 and entered the US Army in Dec 1942. He did his Basic Training in Atlantic City, NJ. He was then sent to Reno, Nev as a member of the 110th Signal Co. and then went to England in Dec 1943. He was a Motor NCO for the 110th. He then moved Nottingham and Leicester. He then joined the 708th Air and Material Squadron in Piox, France, and remained with them until his discharge in Oct 1945. He rose to the rank of Corporal. Greene and America are thankful for the service of Levi and his family.
