Congresswoman Claudia Tenney to discuss farming issues in Chenango County

NORWICH – Republican Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) will appear in Norwich on Friday for an agriculture roundtable on issues impacting area farmers.

Tenney will be at the Chenango County Historical Society in Norwich from 12:30 to 2 p.m. More than a dozen farmers are expected to take part.

Discussion will focus heavily on the trials farmers from across the district have been facing in recent years, and how Congress can help.

Tenney will tour the VanAlthuis Dairy farm in Sherburne after the discussion.

Tenney touts a record of advocating for upstate agriculture, including calling for reforms to the Dairy Margin Protection Program in the 2018 Farm Bill, and pushing for accountability to Canada to keep trade commitments by enforcing current law and opposing Canadian dairy protectionist policies.

Tenney says that ag reform and farm family assistance is among her top priorities in her plan to spur economic growth in upstate.
