The Pastor’s Pen: First Baptist Church in Bainbridge
BAINBRIDGE – The fellowship at First Baptist sends prayers to all for a safe start to the fall semester, whether youth are attending preschool, elementary or secondary school, or beginning college, we pray traveling mercies and well being to all who begin again this fall.
With beginning again in mind, our Sunday School Rally Day is Sunday, September 10th at 10 a.m. We will meet at First Baptist for a new and fresh start to the coming year. This will be a special time for kids to experience wonder and excitement of following Jesus and knowing Gods everlasting and steadfast love! Then, afterwards everyone is invited to a picnic at Gene and Yvonne Cutler’s Bluebird Hollow Farms where the fun will continue with food, games, and other activities. Everyone is welcome to join us for this beginning to our Fall Season of worship.
With regard to the safety of our youth, we have recently adopted a Safe Church Policy that will be implemented with the fall semester’s activities. Our primary aim is that children know that God loves them, and in sharing that truth we realize the importance of keeping children safe. If you wish to review our policy, please contact the pastor at 607-967-8034 or 315-750-0997 (or by e-mailing peaceawork@gmx.com) and we would be pleased to send you a copy.
The other major event happening at First Baptist this fall is our 150th Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, October 1st .at 10 a.m. The Rev. James Kerr-Whitt – a previous pastor of First Baptist - will be joining us and providing some special music for the morning. After worship there will be a time of refreshment and fellowship. Again, everyone is welcome to come and celebrate with us the privilege of serving this community since 1867!
Our last Hot Dog Sale for the season will be Saturday, September 2nd. Stop by, have a dog with all the fixin’s, and support our efforts to provide some good wholesome fun for our youth.
This fall watch for announcements regarding our Annual Fall Hayride, and Rummage and Bake Sale in October; and our Bazaar and Café in December. The Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service sponsored by the Bainbridge Council of Churches will be held at First Baptist this year on Sunday, November 19th at 3 p.m. All are encouraged and welcome to attend these events and services.
First Baptist Church is a loving fellowship of believers with an active prayer ministry, a heart for children and families, and a commitment to serving our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We offer Sunday School for all youth, and Child Care during worship. Teens and Tweens from fifth grade up are meeting in our newly renovated Youth Room. Worship services begin at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome at First Baptist. We are located at 12 South Main Street, between the Scoville-Meno dealership and Sydney Federal Credit Union. If you need a ride please call Pastor Wendy at 315-750-0997.
