NORWICH – Valley Heights Christian Academy’s boys varsity soccer team hosted Finger Lakes Christian School on Friday, September 15, at Weiler Park’s Angelino Fields.
The boys from Finger Lakes dictated the pace early on as the Tigers moved their offensive attack into Crusader territory. However, the offensive success wouldn’t last as the Crusaders opened the field and began to push their offensive lines forward.
With 15 minutes into the contest, Crusader striker Alex Evans found an opening – sending a blast towards the Tiger net only for Evans’ shot to be turned away from goalkeeper Matt McDonald. Not to be out done, Jack Conant-VHCA’s talented eighth grade phenom collected the rebound striking it into the Tiger goal, giving the hometown team the 1-0 lead.
The second half of play, yielded more fruit for the Crusader offense as Aidan Lowie set up for the kick-off, delivery a long- high arching pass to forward Jason Graham. Going one-on-one with the Tiger goalkeeper, Graham laced a shot, scoring the Crusader’s second goal of the game. However, Valley Heights wasn’t done just yet. Minutes later, PJ Bookamer sent a cross from the left corner of Tiger territory finding teammate Jack Conant, as Conant scored his second goal of the game, completing the shut-out and sealing up another Valley Heights victory at 3-0.
Valley Heights returns to the pitch on Tuesday afternoon when they host North Spencer at Weiler Park in Norwich with game time slated for 5 p.m.
