Sherburne-Earlville pounds the ground over Clinton; grabs second win in a row

SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville outscored Clinton 28-7 in the second half to in effort of a 56-27 win on Friday night football.

The Marauders lost their stand-out running back Lincoln Owen on the second play of the game as he went down with a knee injury and would not return for the game.

Rallying after Owen's injury and an early Clinton touchdown, S-E's Gabe IrwinConnected with Dawson Lagoe for 55-yard pass to make the score 8-6 Warriors. The Marauder conversion failed, keeping the score at 8-6.

Clinton would respond to the S-E touchdown with one of their own from a Brandon Brown 9 run to give Clinton 14-6 lead over the home Marauders.

Sherburne-Earville grabbed three unanswered touchdowns. S-E recorded runs by Cody Beckwith (2 Yards) and Jessey Lynch (5 Yards), both for scores, as well as a 25 TD pass from Irwin to Nick Thurston to take a 28-20 lead into halftime.

S-E started with the scoring romp early in the second half. Lagoe caught another 30-yard touchdown from Irwin and Irwin added a 17-yard rushing touchdown in the third.

Clinton did put one more on the board as a pass from Tanner Deveans to Preston Sperduto for the 27 yard score. But that early 3rd quarter score would be the last of Clinton's chances as it was all Marauders from there.
