Afton Crimson Knights avoid shutout by Delhi Bulldogs
AFTON – The Afton boys soccer team has seen its fair share of struggles in 2017 – with their most recent coming when Delhi came to their home field to hand them a 3-1 loss.
The shot differential was astounding for the contest being so close this past Friday, September 22. The Crimson Knights saw just two shots on goal and no corners – as Brandon Hoover took an assist from Allen Brozonis for a second half score.
Delhi ripped into Afton for an early strike, before adding two goals in the second half. These three goals – scored by Chris Hillis (one goal), Alex Haight (one goal), Logan Aikens (one goal), and Paul Avila (one assist) – came off of Delhi’s 36 shots on goal and eight corners.
Staying busy for the Crimson Knights was their goalkeeper, Christian Noyes, who managed 20 saves. For Delhi, Ben Arehart recorded one save in the 3-1 win.
