No. 1 Forks controls the Lady Tornado with a 8-0 win
CHENANGO FORKS – Number one state ranked Lady Devils had no problems with Norwich as they took 38 shots on goal, taking a win 8-0 Monday.
Chenango Forks started firing immediately, taking three shots that were 30 seconds apart. Devils Emma Bough kicked in a rebound shot 4:44 into the contest.
Norwich keeper Saige Benedict gave a great performance in the goal on the evening. Benedict saved the next seven shots before allowing another one to get past her.
Forks’ Laura Ashman made the game 2-0 at the 16 minute mark. On a ball from Brooke Maietta, Riley Peterson ended the first half scoring with her goal, the third on the evening for the Lady Devils.
Peterson, Ashman and Chloe Dutcher each had one goal in the second half. Bough recorded back-to-back goals, giving herself a hat trick, as well as assisting on on Ashman’s goal.
Norwich’s Morgan Conkling put the only shot on goal for Norwich.
Benedict saved a total of 30 shots, grabbing a save percentage near 80-percent.
The Lady Tornado are off until next Tuesday when they will rematch Chenango Forks. This time, on Norwich’s turf. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
