SE Fighting Back to hold community forum on addiction Wednesday night
SHERBURNE – Addiction awareness group SE Fighting Back is holding a heroin and opioid addiction community forum Wednesday night from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Magro's Banquet Hall.
The forum is open to the public and will feature Ithaca Mayor and Sherburne-Earlville graduate Svante Myrick as a speaker.
"We are excited about the program we have put together," said a spokesperson from SE Fighting Back. "This is a program for everyone, whether you are in need of help or would just like to learn more about the issue."
Other speakers will include pain management specialist, Theresa Baxter R.N., F.N.P, as well as founder and executive director of Truth Pharm, Alexis Pleus.
Beginning at 8 p.m., resource tables at the forum will provide information on treatment, harm reduction, prevention information and initiatives, support, and signs of use.
"Our goal is to reduce shame and stigma by bringing the community together and having an open dialogue," said the spokesperson.
