S-E Lady Marauders split decisions for two games in three days
SHERBURNE – Playing two games in three days, the Lady Marauders split the outcomes with one win and one loss.
Sherburne-Earlville took the W in the first game with a double-overtime victory of 4-3 over host Canastota.
The Red Raiders jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first and tacked on their second goal in the second half, but S-E fought back to tie up the game with two goals of their own in the second half, forcing yet again another double overtime contest this season.
In the extra sessions, the Marauders tallied two early, scoring both in the first overtime. Canastota only answered with one in the second 10 minutes to award S-E the win.
Tessa Cole and Corey Jeffrey recorded a goal a piece for the Marauders, while teammate Adeline Trass scored another two. Trass and Jeffrey also recorded an assist each in the contest.
Sherburne-Earlville hosted Waterville Wednesday night. Waterville brought the pressure hard winning 5-1.
Amberlyn Robertson finished the lone goal for S-E with the assist coming from Cole’s foot.
Waterville’s goals were scored by four different individuals on the team and one miscue by Sherburne-Earlville’s defense.
The Marauders goalies McKenzie Holmes and Eva Westbrook split the 13 saves in front of the net.
Sherburne-Earlville faces Clinton on the road Friday, September 29 for their third game in five days. Game will start at 4:30 p.m.
