Athlete of the Week; Lincoln Owen, Sherburne-Earlville Marauders Football
SHERBURNE – Lincoln Owen is already having an incredible season and it’s only half over.
Owen’s best game yet was a four touchdown performance when Sherburne-Earlville blanked Adirondack 51-0. On his four scores, Owen recorded 59 yards rushing and 12 yards receiving, but surely had many yards throughout the contest.
Lincoln scored all of the touchdowns the Marauders tallied against Canastota; one of which came from 44 yards on the ground. Even against Section III powerhouse Dolgeville, Owen could not be kept out of the end zone.
Owen was all over the field for S-E in every game this season. That was, until he went out of the game against Clinton on the second play of the game last Friday.
Heartbroken they lost their teammate to an injury, the Marauders rallied, dominating Clinton 56-27.
“He is the heart and soul of our team,” said Head Coach Ed Holmquist after the game Friday.
Off the field, Owen is also a good representation of a student-athlete in the halls of Sherburne-Earlville High School.
“Lincoln is a great student, works hard in the classroom. Off the field he is a positive role model. He works with the underclassmen to guide them to a successful future,” said Holmquist.
