Norwich boys show improvement in 5-2 loss to Seton
BINGHAMTON – Norwich’s boys soccer squad didn’t come home on homecoming with a win, but they did come home with an improved score.
Prior to their most recent 5-2 loss to Seton Catholic, Norwich had dropped an earlier season matchup to Seton at 7-0. The sting of a shutout is never pretty, and the feeling of a loss doesn’t get any better – but with hard work and time the Norwich boys program is showing signs of major improvements.
“It is the best game I have ever seen Norwich play in my entire life. It was just amazing,” said Norwich head coach Scottie Decker.
At the half, Norwich trailed the Saints at just 2-0 – however, a determined Seton team added three second half goals in their efforts at home.
Scoring both of the Tornado goals – both coming in the second half – was Mujuni Mutabiilwa. Mutabiilwa scored first off a penalty kick only to later be assisted by teammate Simba Nguyen.
In the improved 5-2 loss for Norwich, they managed seven shots and five corners – holding Seton to their five goals off of 12 shots and three corners.
Making the plays in the net, Norwich saw Dakota Franklin make five goalie saves while Seton employed Gio Garufi, making three saves.
Next up for Norwich boys soccer, they will be back on the road this coming Wednesday, when they will be heading to Chenango Forks for a Wednesday, October 4, to play at 7 p.m.
