Irwin and the Marauders’ offensive line help lead S-E to a late game comeback win

HOLLAND PATENT – Sherburne-Earlville scored 22 unanswered points against Holland Patent in the second half on Saturday, capturing a 28-21 comeback win in a Class C, Section III match-up.

Jason Haas gave Holland Patent an early lead with a run from 20 yards out. Haas followed his first score with another three yard run to the end-zone to go up 14-0.

Game Irwin connected with Dawson Lagoe for an 18 yard touchdown catch in response to Golden Knights’ lead.

The quarter would end at 14-6 as the extra point attempt for the Marauders was missed.

Lagoe’s score was quickly voided, as Holland Patent’s Nick Herringshaw passed to Michael Walker for a 39-yard score in the second quarter.

At the break, Sherburne-Earlville was down 21-6.

Giving a momentum swing for the Marauders was Jesse Lynch with a strip on the Golden Knight ball carrier, forcing a turnover to give S-E the ball early in the third quarter.
