Vikings top GMU due to big game from Tanner Costa

GILBERTSVILLE – The Vikings boys soccer team invaded Gilbertsville this past weekend for a 2-0 road win over Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton.

The Vikings of Otselic Valley, led by senior captain Tanner Costa, embarked on a journey to take on GMU, to which they did with two first half goals.

“It ended up pretty even on paper when you compared the shots, save, and corners. However, we finished on top,” said Otselic Valley head coach Jacob Preston.

“Tanner Costa had a great game for OV. He passed when he needed to and shot when he was supposed to, Costa is a senior captain and he lived up to that titled tonight.”

Scoring first was Costa, in the first half of play, when he took a corner kick to which GMU attempted to head it out and Costa one time volleyed it off the left post to score.

The second score, coming from Costa as well through an assist to teammate Derek Stoddard.
