B-G volleyball shuts out the Spartans in three sets
BAINBRIDGE – Another week goes by in Chenango County, summer rolls into fall, and with it comes the ever-certain win from the seemingly near perfect Bainbridge-Guilford volleyball team.
Another home match and they glided to an easy 3-0 win over the visiting Unatego Spartans on Tuesday.
Not only were the lady Bobcats able to take the 3-0 win, but they did so by limiting Unatego to just 33 points combined in the three sets played – with the highest points coming at 13 in set two.
In the first set, B-G took the win at 25-9. This easy win was followed by a second-set win at 25-13 and a final set win at 25-11.
B-G relied once again on the steady play of stars, Abigail and Erica Selfridge along with Zamira Caldwell, Alexis Carr and Mackenzie Drown.
The eldest Selfridge sister, Abigail, earned six aces, seven assists, six kills and three digs in the win. Following Abigail was Erica at eight aces, 16 assists, four kills and three digs; Carr with seven aces, three kills and two digs; Caldwell with four aces, five kills and two digs; and Drown with one ace, five kills and one dig.
The visiting Spartans struggled mightily on Tuesday, gaining minimal points and minimal statistics along the way.
Madison Rivera had one ace – followed by Carly Hill, Alyssa Blanco, and Rivera each having one kill each.
In the loss, Unatego volleyball (5-2 league), will next face off against Delhi at home on Wednesday, October 4.
Bainbridge-Guilford volleyball (10-1 overall, 8-0 league), will be on the road when they take on the Blackhawks of Oxford on Thursday, October 5, at 7 p.m.
