Late push in five-setter leaves Trojans on wrong side of 3-2 win

SIDNEY – The Sidney Warriors volleyball squad earned a nice league win over the heavily improved Greene Trojans at 3-2.

Five sets, all nearly better than the one before, Greene’s play on the volleyball courts, as of late, has been tremendous and the effort is there as the season is coming close to the end.

Despite the league win over Greene on Wednesday, October 4, Sidney actually found themselves in an early hole in the matchup.

The lady Trojans snuck into Sidney and stole the first set at 25-22. The Warriors mirrored this score in the second set but reversed it – taking a 25-22 win for the 1-1 set tie.

Again, Greene emerged the victors – taking the third set in a barn-burner at 27-25.

That is where the gas ran out – Sidney came out in the fourth and subsequently the fifth set to take back-to-back wins and secure the home win.
