Lady Tornado stung by Yellowjackets in one goal loss

ONEONTA – Norwich was held scoreless until the second half against Oneonta as Lady Tornado lost to the host Oneonta 2-1 Thursday night.
Offensively, the Yellowjackets shot 19 and took 12 corners in the winning effort.
Hannah Johnson recorded the two goals as both were passed from Anika Buzzy in the first half. Oneonta did not score another in the contest.
Sydney Coggins netted Norwich’s lone goal on an assist from teammate Delilah Gesilinger as the Purple attempted a comeback in the second half, but it wasn’t enough as time ran out.
Keeper Saige Benedict had another strong showing in front of the net for the Lady Tornado, saving nine of the 19 shots.
Norwich’s next game is to be determined as the playoff picture for sectionals is yet to be announced.
