NORWICH – If you happened to smell something burning last night, don't be alarmed, it was just the Norwich Fire Department holding their annual open house.
Members of Chenango County gathered at the fire house on East Main Street for a night of family fun and education, made possible by the firefighters of Norwich. Fire Chief Tracy Chawgo says the event was a huge success after a great turnout by the community.
There were activities such as Hose the House, where kids were able to use a fire hose with assistance. There were fire trucks and ambulances on display, where kids were invited sit, as well as a live fire demonstration. Chief Chawgo's wife, Mindy, handed out fire prevention coloring books, helmets, stickers, and plastic cups provided by Preferred Mutual with refreshments being provided by the Cottage Bakery. The Department of Health offered flu shots to anyone interested.
