Athlete of the week; Madison Baciuska, Afton Crimson Knight Field Hockey
Lately it seems when people talk about an athlete committing to a Division-I NCAA program, others think that athlete is one dimensional.
But not Madison Baciuska, this week’s girls Athlete of the Week .
Madison participates in Mock Trial, YES Leads, Student Government, and so much more.
“If there is an volunteer event happening in the area, you will see Madison there,” said Afton Athletic Director Cindy Bostelman. And not only will you see her there – you will witness Madison working the event from the moment it starts to the moment it ends.
Madison is one of the top student in her Junior Class at Afton Central School and is a member of their National Honor Society.
“Madison is a great role model for the younger kids in our district as well,” state Bostelman. “She loves to read to the elementary school students and they look forward to having her in their classes.”
In July of this year, Madison verbally committed to the Wake Forest Field Hockey Program, a NCAA Division-I Atlantic Coast Conference team that was recently ranked 13th in Top 25.
And Madison is very deserving, even only as a junior.
Baciuska is currently ranked in the Top 50, a ranking that factors in all field hockey players across the nation.
Recently, it was announced that Madison received an All-State player nod for her play this season.
During the off-season, Baciuska will continue to work on improving her already impressive play as she plays field hockey year round.
