Chenango SPCA month-long event will double your donations
NORWICH – This holiday season, you can help save an animal’s life by donating to the CSPCA and having that gift matched dollar-for-dollar.
The Staffworks “Save A Life” Campaign will match donations made between December 1 and December 31 to any rescue organization located in Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, Chenango, Otsego, Broome or Onondaga counties that does not receive public support.
The fund was was created by Staffworks founder and owner Anita Vitullo out of her love for animals and her belief in their right to life.
CSPCA Executive Director Annette Clarke says last year the campaign didn’t go as well as they had hoped. She believes this is due to the fact that people are confused about where the money goes.
The money from donations first goes to The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneidea Counties before the CSPCA sees it. Clarke says the donations have to go there first so they can double it before sending it back to the CSPCA.
“If they donate $20, they send it first to The Community Foundation and they’ll send us $40,” Clarke said. “Even though their check is not made out to us, the money does come directly to us.”
The CSPCA received $350 last year during the campaign and received a check from the foundation for $700. Clarke is hoping this year will be much more successful.
Clarke said if you’re going to donate to the CSPCA, to consider waiting until December 1 and donating through the Save A Life Campaign in order to double the gift.
“Even if you can only donate $10, it automatically becomes $20,” Clarke said.
There are a few ways to donate, many people have received a prepaid donation envelope with the December newsletter. With that option you can choose the CSPCA box and mail a check right to The Community Foundation to be doubled. The checks need to be made out to The Community Foundation in order to be eligible for the campaign.
“If we receive a donation with the check made out to The Community Foundation, we can mail it there for you, but the check has to be made out to them in order to be doubled,” Clarke said.
