OTSELIC – A 23 point fourth quarter performance by the boys from George Jr Republic provided the final tear in the Otselic Valley sails, sinking the Vikings 67-60.

Despite the Vikings controlling the home-court advantage in the early season non-league match-up, it was the guests from Freeville, NY that set up shop early. The boys from GJR opened the game, torching the porous OV defense with 21 points. While the first stanza was unkind to the Vikings, the second period of play was much more fruitful as OV scored 23 points, managing to take a slim lead into halftime at 34-33.

In the third quarter on first glance, it looked as though OV righted the ship to extended their lead to seven points to enter the final eight minutes of play. While the middle two quarters of the game fell in favor of the hometown Vikings, the fourth quarter and the game fell in sole possession of George Jr Republic. GJR exploded for 23 points in the final quarter of play, all while limiting the Otselic Valley offensive attack to a game low 10 points.

Tanner Costa led the Vikings as he scored a game-high 36 points on 15 of 29 field goals, in which five of those field goals came from beyond the arc. Costa also led the Vikings on the defensive end with six steals. Clayton O’Hara aided Costa in the offensive department scoring 15 points and grabbing nine rebounds.

W. Felton led George Jr Republic in scoring with 25 points and teammate Q. Lewter finished the contest with 22 points.
