Lagoe scores 30, Marauders win third straight; Davis named to All-Tournament team

SHERBURNE – The Marauders’ Dawson Lagoe dropped 30 points in Friday’s match-up with the visiting Canastota Raiders as Sherburne-Earlville won their third straight game 75-66.
Lagoe made six three-pointers in the contest en route to his career high in the scoring column.
S-E’s pressuring defense in the first half helped the home team jump out to a 39-25 lead.
Canastota answered with 41 in the second half with behind 10 points from Edquen Brooks in the third and 13 by Hunter Znuji in the fourth.
But it wasn’t enough to overcome the Marauders’ as they tacked on another 36 points in the second half.
Hunter Lane added 19 to go along with Lagoe’s 30 for Sherburne-Earlville.
The Marauders (4-2, 1-0) will travel to Clinton on Tuesday for their second league game of the season. Game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

 Oxford 53, Hunter-Tannersville 50
MORRIS – Playing in the consolation game after a tough loss of the Morris tournament Thursday, Oxford took the win over Hunter-Tannersville 53-50 on Saturday afternoon.
Blackhawks’ Jason Davis led the team in the first half with 11 of his game-high 19 points. But in the second half, Hunter-Tannersville made a defense adjustment by double and triple teamming Davis, only allowing him to score from the free-throw line.
Oxford’s scoring didn’t slow down though. Jacob Murrer and Brad Beckwith took advantage of the defense focusing on Davis, combining for 19 points in the second half.
Hunter-Tannersville scored 19 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to take down the Blackhawks.
Murrer finished with 13 and Beckwith recorded 11 on the night. Davis nearly completed a triple-double as he ended the afternoon with 10 rebounds and nine blocks to go along with his 19 points.
Oxford hosts Greene on Wednesday for a MAC Conference match-up. Tip is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

GREENE – Foul trouble and a rough shooting night led to a loss for the Greene Trojans at home Friday night as the visiting Delhi Bulldogs topped the host team 45-33.
The Bulldogs went to the line 31 times in the game as the Trojans fouled 26 times. Delhi made 14 free-throws, basically creating the difference in the score.
As far as Greene’s shooting, the Trojans completed a total of 11 field goals, one coming from behind the arc. “Our shooting percentage could have easliy been below 20-percent,” said head coach Chris Rice. “We head to Chenango Forks on Monday and hope we shoot better.”
Greene was led by Ryan Smith with nine points while the Bulldogs’ N Craft finished with a game-high 17.
Greene travels to Chenango Forks for a non-league contest on Monday at 7 p.m.

Windsor 49, Unadilla Valley 43
NEW BERLIN – A rough night shooting from the field led to a six points loss for the Unadilla Valley Lady Storm to the visiting Black Knights of Windsor Friday night. Windsor took the non-league win, 49-43.
“It was a night where nothing fell for us and they [Windsor] made everything they put up,” said UV’s head coach Brandi Whitbeck.
Julia Oglesby scored eight in the first and final quarters for 16 of her game-high 20 points in the Storm’s loss.
Windsor was led by Larissa Balachick as she scored 16 points in the contest.
UV’s next game to bounce back is Tuesday against Unatego. They follow with a game at Bainbridge-Guilford on Thursday then another one on Friday at Oneonta before they host their annual holiday tournament.

SHERBURNE – Delhi’s stifling defense held the host Sherburne-Earlville to less than 10 points in three of the four quarters on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Bulldogs went on to win the non-league contest 47-24.
Delhi’s offense was powered by very balance scoring throughout the team with no member of the squad scoring in double-digits. They were led by Anna Post’s eight with three of her teammates each adding six.
The Lady Marauders were led by Tessa Cole’s 12 while her colleague Kaitlyn Furner added seven.
S-E travels to Clinton on Monday and will be looking for their second league win as they grabbed their first over Canastota last Thursday, December 14.
