NYS trooper hit by suspect’s vehicle in Binghamton

BINGHAMTON – A New York State Police Officer sustained non-life threatening injuries in the City of Binghamton on Tuesday after a suspect intentionally struck the officer with his vehicle.

Police say shortly after 5 p.m. on Tuesday, troopers became involved in a pursuit with a suspect wanted on a warrant of arrest.

At the intersection of Conklin Avenue and Alfred Street police say they tried to apprehend the suspect when the suspect intentionally struck a trooper with his vehicle.

The suspect subsequently sustained a gunshot wound and fled the scene before being apprehended a short distance away and then taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Both the trooper and suspect are reported by police to be in stable condition.

New York State Police Troop C Commander Major William F. McEvoy said additional information will be released as the investigation continues.
