OXFORD – After a low scoring first quarter by both teams, the Lady Spartans of Unatego took off offensively, going on a 20-2 run in the second, taking a commanding lead that turned into a win over the host Oxford Blackhawks on Wednesday.
The Spartans’ Meghan Perry 10 of the team’s 20 in the quarter while her teammate and sister, Morgan Perry added all six of her points in the eight minutes.
The Blackhawks fought back after the break, scoring 12 behind Caitlyn Quigly’s seven points. By the end of the third, Oxford cut the Unatego lead down to 14.
But the Spartans took control as a 15 point quarter and held the home team to just seven in the final eight minutes to take the 48-22 victory over the Blackhawks.
Meghan Perry added one more basket in the second half to her total, finishing the night with a total of 12 for Unatego and leading all scorers. Oxford was led by Quigley’s seven in the third.
Oxford hosts Delhi on Friday in another MAC conference game at 7:15 p.m.
