Authorities determine cause of Plymouth fire
PLYMOUTH – On Tuesday afternoon, the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office concluded its investigation into the fatal house fire that occurred Monday morning in Plymouth, determining the fire was caused by a wood stove.
“We do not believe it was intentional,” said Sheriff’s Detective Richard Cobb.
An investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and Chenango County Bureau of Fire determined the fire originated near a wood stove that was being used to heat the residence at 553 German Hollow Road.
The Sheriff’s Office reported autopsies conducted at Lourdes Hospital Tuesday determined that Debbie Pfeiffer, 33, Amber Morrow, 10, and Benjamin Pfeiffer, 1, each died of smoke inhalation.
