Chenango United Way finishes one percent short of campaign goal
CHENANGO COUNTY – At its board meeting Thursday night, the Chenango United Way tallied its final numbers for the fall 2017 campaign.
Chenango United Way and its donors raised $413,262 for the 2017 campaign, moneys which will be used to provide critical funding to local organizations in need.
"Our campaign co-chairs this year were Jerri Webb of Frontier Communications and John Antonowicz of Wilson Funeral Home," said Monaco. "They did an amazing job of helping us to communicate our community's needs and rally support across Chenango County."
The final campaign total is 99 percent of what the Chenango United Way had hoped to raise in $419,000, said Executive Director Elizabeth Monaco.
"We are also grateful to Megan Mirabito, our intern from SUNY New Paltz, who helped to create and design all of our campaign marketing materials this year and to Susie Waltz, our intern from Colgate University, who helped to create this year's campaign video."
Monaco also offered her gratitude to the dozens of volunteers who helped the local United Way raise money as internal captains across Chenango County.
In its Industry division, where employees in the county donate through payroll deductions and where the United Way raises most of its money, the division alone raised $283,013––68 percent of the total campaign.
Monaco said $313,970 of the campaign total will be used for allocations right back into the Chenango County community.
"Individual program allocations will be announced in March once all the local programs have been informed of their awards," said Monaco. "Allocations are made across three areas of need: income, education, and health."
Already looking ahead to next year's campaign, Monaco said the co-chairs will be Kelly and Nick Colosi, as they once again try to meet their goal of $419,000.
"We are super excited to have [Kelly and Nick Colosi] on-board," said Monaco.
