Legion Auxiliary invites all to Valentine's Day soup, casserole and bake sale

OXFORD – With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, you need go no further than the Oxford Fort Hill Legion Post #376 to get heartwarming treats to celebrate the day. The American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) is offering a Valentine’s Day Soup, Casserole and Bake sale on Saturday, February 10, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Come in and make delicious purchases while supporting the educational and charitable mission of the Oxford A.L. Auxiliary.

ALA Unit 376 members are excitedly planning to make delicious favorite savory recipes such as creamy mac 'n' cheese and flavorful chili; soups like ham and bean, shrimp gumbo, ham and potato, taco soup, and many others. Soups will be sold in 32 ounce containers ready to warm at home.

For your sweet tooth, there will be baked sugared creations that will melt your heart! Homemade goodies such as decadent chocolate-chocolate chip cake with chocolate frosting, cherry cupcakes, butter cookies dusted with pink sugar, and fudgey brownies, just to name a few, which will no doubt be inspired by the romantic holiday.

Those who come early Saturday will have the best selection. If the ALA members donate an abundance of goods, it is conceivable that the sale will continue on Sunday morning from 7:30 to 11 a.m.; during the Sunday Community Breakfast, but this is not guaranteed. Why not come to the breakfast anyway!

"Please come and show your support. Our organization is working to improve the lives of veterans, our community and the future of our children." stated Unit 376 president, Jan Pollard.

Aside from supporting the mission of the National ALA, locally, the Oxford ALA is involved in sponsoring an Empire Girls' State delegate annually to promote youth leadership; they organize other fundraisers like the Memorial Poppy sales to benefit veterans; they promote child literacy and education with their Harvest dinner and their own ALA Scholarship; donate community Christmas gift “baskets”; volunteer at nursing homes; and to the Volunteer Services of the NYS Veterans' Home at Oxford.

The historic Fort Hill Post #376 is located at 17 S. Washington Avenue. For inquiries: Events@OxfordNY.com or call 843-2121, or call the American Legion at 843-8166. Read more on the web: oxford-ala.chenango.org
