Chobani pays it forward in One for All campaign
NORWICH – As a way of saying thank you to its supporters, Chobani has announced its "One for All" campaign in honor of its 10th birthday celebration, inviting everyone in America to receive one free Chobani product.
Beginning on Monday, February 12 and lasting three weeks until March 4, anyone in America is invited to print a coupon for one free Chobani product, with no purchase necessary.
"It's a really proud moment," said Chobani Chief Marketing Officer Peter McGuinness. "And when you say you're 10 years young and celebrate your anniversary, you gotta pay special attention to where it all began."
In addition to the three week free yogurt period, Chobani employees will manifest at the Town of Norwich Price Chopper on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to hand out coupons and say thanks to customers. On Saturday, Chobani employees will take to the Town of Norwich Walmart 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
"We're going to manifest at the store, we're going to have a booth, we're going to give away shirts and swag and coupons and yogurt right then and there, it's a huge deal," said McGuinness. "In the end this is just a celebration and that's what we wanted."
McGuinness said Chobani has been working on the "One for All" campaign for nine months, initially mulling over ideas of offering discounted yogurts before deciding that giving away their products for free was more the Chobani-way.
"We're not into anniversary campaigns that just tell you how old you are with discounted products," said McGuinness. "We're 10 years young, we've come a long way and we couldn't have done it without our fans and our friends and our family and our partners. And we just wanted to say thank you."
As part of the campaign, McGuinness said Chobani is pivoting its founding mission from "Better food for more people" to "Better food for all people."
"I don't think I've heard of another program like this, for three weeks you can have any one of our products for free," said McGuinness. "I haven't seen anything like this, I think it's unprecedented, it makes me really proud because it's kind of on our mission of "Better food for all people." It's a true celebration, no strings attached, and it really is just a thank you."
The comprehensive campaign also includes Chobani engaging its employees as brand ambassadors, where all 2,000 employees were given an extra case of Chobani yogurt in addition to the case they already receive to do with whatever they please. Employees were also given a shirt, hat, and coupon book to pass out to friends, family, or even strangers.
The campaign also includes a series of new television advertisements, an Amazon Echo integration option, and a Grand Central Terminal Experience on Monday where attendees planted virtual seeds. For every virtual seed planted, Chobani vowed to donate one case of yogurt to No Kid Hungry, which aims to end childhood hunger in America.
McGuinness said the results aren't entirely compiled yet, but tens of thousands of cases will be donated to No Kid Hungry after just one day at Grand Central.
