Small Town Perks to open in Bainbridge Thursday
BAINBRIDGE – A new coffee shop is opening in Bainbridge this Thursday, March 1 and will offer all veterans and active military personnel free in-house coffee anytime they stop in.
Small Town Perks, located at 25 West Main Street on NY-206, is a small coffee shop created by Jason and Erica Hall. Opening at 6 a.m. Thursday and closing at 2 p.m., the shop will serve Tom's Coffee from Binghamton, baked goods, teas, homemade soups, cards, gifts, and more.
"I think definitely any new business in any small town is good, and also doing something for the veterans is nice, too" said Jason Hall. "I'm a veteran myself, just shy of 10 years. It's something I hold dear to my heart."
Jason said any veteran or active military personnel are able to stop in Small Town Perks to receive a free in-house coffee with proof of military identification. "I think it's kind of cool. It's small, but it's something."
Jason said Erica, who is a Bainbridge native, will be running Small Town Perks. After its opening Thursday, the coffee shop will be open every week from Wednesday to Sunday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Jason said they are still finalizing what baked goods will be sold, but it will include muffins, pastries, glazed donuts and more. For its grand opening Thursday, Small Town Perks will serve up zuppa toscana soup.
"It's got kale, hot italian sausage, potatoes––it's a really good soup," said Jason.
Jason said he and Erica have wanted to start a coffee shop for some time now, and the stars aligned for Small Town Perks.
"We've always wanted to do something," said Jason. "A friend of mine owns the building and it became available, the price was right and everything else, and it's a great location on 206. So it was like, 'Okay, let's do it.'"
