Lady Warriors use big inning for win over Purple Tornado

BINGHAMTON – The Lady Warriors of Chenango Valley had a nine run second inning to propel the home team to a 18-0 five-inning win over the Purple Tornado Wednesday afternoon.

In the first inning, Purple Tornado starter Alex Colley pitched to four batters and allowed just two hits, while striking out two batters.

Norwich held the Warriors to just one run in the bottom of first inning but the bats of CV came alive in the second as they recorded seven hits.

Colley pitched four innings in the loss but struck out five Warrior batters. Teammate Olivia Granquist came on in the fourth to finish the game. Granquist added a strikeout to give the Tornado pitchers a combined total of six.

Three Norwich batters recorded hits in the game to prevent a no-hitter by CV’s pitcher Kiera Warwick.
