Bobcats tennis sweeps up first match of season against Hancock

HANCOCK – The Bobcats tennis team saw the playing surface for the first time this season and walked away with a clean sweep, winning the match 5-0 over Hancock.
Bainbridge-Guilford’s first singles player Jared Pruskowski took down Hancock’s Michael Argiros in straight sets, giving the Bobcats their first win of the match.
Dadeon Canfield of B-G also won at second doubles in straight sets but needed extra games in the second set against the Eagles’ Porter Crawson. After Canfield blanked Crawson in the first set, Crawson was determined to put up a fight. With the two battling it out, the set went in favor of Canfield with a final of 7-5 and gave B-G their second team point of the match.
In the third singles, Garrett O’Hara of the Bobcats went into the second set trailing 0-1. O’Hara tied the match a 1-1 after downing Ryan Callan of Hancock with a game score of 6-4. Forcing a third set tiebreaker, O’Hara repeated the 6-4 score, taking the match and earning yet another point for Bainbridge-Guilford.
B-G’s two double teams won in straight sets as well, closing out the match sweep. First doubles partners Tannar Cliffe and Nate Oliver topped Hancock’s Lily Ogozalek and Riley Ostrander with set scores of 6-2 and 6-4.
In the final match, doubles partners Ryan Cooper and Alex Tranvaag of the Bobcats used straight sets of 6-2 to take down Makenna Loucks and Trinity Crawson.
Bainbridge-Guilford are set host the Blackhawks of Oxford in a MAC League matchup Wednesday afternoon. As long as the weather holds out for the two teams, the match will start at 4:30 p.m.
