Norwich home fire extinguished with minor damage

NORWICH – The City of Norwich Fire Department responded to a fire in Norwich Tuesday morning, and without any injuries or major structural damage, the fire was extinguished.

The Fire Department reported that at 3:39 a.m. on Griffin Street, fire and smoke was spotted in a home.

Upon its response to the call, the fire department ensured the safety of the home’s occupants, and stretched a line through the home, and extinguished the fire.

“There was minimal fire damage confined to the room of origin, with smoke damage throughout the entire second floor,” said Norwich Fire Department Tracy Chawgo.

The fire was called under controlled by Chawgo at 4:10 a.m., and there were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
