Music club to present feature concert of season on Monday
NORWICH – Monday Evening Music Club (MEMC), now in its 104th year, will hold its annual Scholarship and Advanced Students Concert on Monday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the United Church of Christ.
Every year, MEMC awards scholarships to select Chenango County students who aspire to study music in college.
This year, MEMC organizer Anita Humer has announced Shannon D. Clark of Greene High School and Jessie Meehan from Oxford High School as the recipients of the scholarship.
Clark is a tubist and a singer and, upon graduating from Greene, will continue her education at the University of Florida in the Fall where she will study Music Education.
Meehan is a vocalist and she will go on to study singing at Nazareth College. Both Meehan and Clark will be featured at Monday evening's concert.
In addition to performances by the scholarship recipients, Humer's advanced piano students and Meena Conant's advanced vocal students will perform at the concert.
Performers include pianists Nicholas Deady, Isaac Austin, and Raegan Doliver from Norwich, and vocalists Jackson Sherry, Kayla Farrell, Aria Maholchic and Elspeth Hunter from Norwich, Andrea Dempsey from Oxford, and Aoife Douglas from Hamilton.
While the concert is free to attend, free-will donations will be accepted at the door to go toward MEMC's scholarships for the 2019 school year.
"Please join us for this festival of music and a lovely reception to follow," said Humer.
The United Church of Christ is located at 11 West Main Street in Norwich.
