Former Colgate DE Pat Afriyie signs with NFL’s Chargers
HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP) — The Los Angeles Chargers have signed former Colgate defensive end Pat Afriyie.
Afriyie and former Stephen F. Austin wide receiver Jessie Liggins were the only players signed from among the 13 the Chargers invited to rookie minicamp over the weekend. The Chargers announced the signings on Monday.
Afriyie was a three-time All-Patriot League first-team selection and the conference defensive player of the year in 2016. That season, he was named to four different All-America teams, including third team from AP.
The Connecticut native finished his career second on the Colgate list and seventh in Patriot League history with 26½ sacks.
