Crouch announces re-election bid for Assembly, again
AFTON – From the floor of Horton Hardware in Afton on Thursday, Assemblyman Cliff Crouch announced again that he is running for re-election for the New York State Assembly in the 122nd District, officially launching his campaign.
Surrounded by dozens of supporters from throughout his district, Crouch said, "I am very blessed and privileged to represent the 122nd District and with this type of support I am energized to do the best job I can. So, this is actually a launch of my campaign and we're going to keep moving forward and do the best job we can."
Crouch initially announced he would be seeking re-election for his 13th term on April 6. He has served in the Assembly since 1995.
Horton Hardware owner Steve Gaydorus, Village of Bainbridge Mayor Phil Wade, Village of Sidney Mayor Andy Matviak, and Town of Kirkwood Supervisor Gordi Kniffen each spoke in support of Crouch on Thursday and expressed gratitude for having him as a representative of the Southern Tier.
Chenango County Board of Supervisors Chairman Lawrence Willcox, Chenango County Treasurer Bill Craine, Chenango County Sheriff Ernie Cutting, and Chenango County Republican Committee Chairman Tom Morrone were also among Crouch's supporters.
Following the announcement, Crouch took questions from the media. In response to a question regarding if he was aware of any potential primary opponents, Crouch said he is aware but noted that no one has officially announced yet.
Nick Libous, son of former Senator Tom Libous, has told the media he will be making an announcement this week in response to queries if he is considering a New York State Assembly run.
