American Legion prepares for Norwich Memorial Day Services

NORWICH – American Legion Post 189 will host a Memorial Day ceremony in honor of those who have died serving their county.

On Monday, May 28, at 10:15 a.m. veterans will gather outside of the Veterans of Foreign Wars building on East Main Street in Norwich, New York, and the Memorial Day Parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

The parade will travel to West Side Park, and at 11:20 a.m. the Memorial Day service commencement is scheduled to begin.

James Cushman is scheduled to speak at the service as master of ceremonies, and as a keynote speaker.

The guest speaker will be Dr. Edward J. Erickson, a retired lieutenant colonel of the United States Army.

After the event, the American Legion will be hosting a light lunch with refreshments at the American Legion Post 189, located on Sheldon Street in Norwich.

The Norwich High School Madrigal Choir is scheduled to sing the national anthem at the event.
