Sherburne to host annual Pageant of Bands

SHERBURNE – Sherburne will be packed this weekend as the Chenango County village celebrates its 69th annual Pageant of Bands from Thursday through Saturday.


Sherburne-Earlville High School will serve as the host school for the oldest pageant of bands in New York state, which typically draws more than 30 participating schools and upwards of 20,000 people. Several competitions will take place at the Section Three Class C school, located a few blocks from Main Street in this Central New York village of fewer than 1,400 residents.

Jazz and small-ensemble performances are scheduled to run from 4-9 p.m. Thursday and from 4-10 p.m. Friday at SEHS. Concert competitions open at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by the main event – the parade of marching bands through downtown Sherburne – at 1 p.m.


The focus will shift to S-E’s Marauder Stadium at 1:45 p.m. Saturday for a Drumline competition, with the Buffalo Bills Drumline appearing as special guests. The Empire Statesmen Drum and Bugle Corp. will perform at 3:30 p.m. at the stadium, which will host the awards-presentation finale at 4:30 p.m.
