Legion members honored by Post 376 Commander

OXFORD – Sons of the American Legion (SAL) and Legionnaire volunteer chicken barbecue grill masters of Post 376, who go by the name of the "Chicken Pluckers," were venerated on May 28 for their selfless labor by Legion Commander Darlene Ardron, with gifts of custom-made aprons.

To design the specially decorated aprons, Darlene collaborated with embroiderer, Cyndi Henderson. Ardron wanted a unique gift for all the hard work the (mostly) SAL cookers had done (and were doing); something they could be proud to wear. Cyndi did the machine stitchery on a half dozen restaurant quality, bib aprons. They were presented appropriately on Memorial Day, during the barbecue held at Post 376. The Commander, who joins the cookers during their events, bestowed the gifts that day to Tim McGowan, Tim Ross, Kurt Spencer, (Legionnaire) Jim Pollard, and Dan "Big Red" Fagnani.

Ardron joyfully said to the Pluckers, "Working together for the good of the community… this is for our camaraderie, friendship, and teamwork. You're just fabulous!"
