Bartle's Pharmacy recognized as 2018 Health Mart Pharmacy of the Year

OXFORD – In recognition of its innovative care to patients and longstanding commitment to community, Bartle's Pharmacy has been selected as the 2018 Health Mart Pharmacy of the Year over nearly 5,000 other pharmacies across all 50 states in the country.

Health Mart staff and camera crews visited Bartle's Pharmacy on June 8 to interview the Bartles, as well as the pharmacy's patients, physicians, and staff to help showcase the Oxford pharmacy as a model for other pharmacies in the network.

Health Mart President Chris Dimos said, "What we look for is pharmacists and pharmacies that are performing very well and giving great patient care and being part of their communities and demonstrating that they do that at the top of the practice, or what we call top of the license, in the pharmacy business.

"[Bartle's Pharmacy] practices at the top of their license and, doing innovative care, their patients have a better outcome when they interact with this pharmacy compared to any other pharmacy," said Dimos.

Daughter of Brian and Linda, Heather Bartle said the pharmacy learned of its achievement at the end of May.

"It was very overwhelming, very humbling. I thought they made a mistake," laughed Heather. "It's just great to see my mom and dad recognized for all their years that they've worked really hard to build this business and be a part of the community and always strive to do the right thing."

Heather said Bartle's Pharmacy has been a customer of McKessa Corporation – the parent company of Health Mart – since the pharmacy was founded in 1963, noting the longstanding business relationship the pharmacy has with the corporation.

Asked what amenities the pharmacy offers that may have helped it receive the recognition, Heather discussed the pharmacy's heavy involvement in the medical synchronization program, where staff coordinates patients' medications so they only have to pick them up once a month, as well as focusing on adhering and compliance with its patients as an independent pharmacy.

"And we're a highly performing pharmacy, so we are ranked in the top 20 percent of pharmacies by [Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services], so our performance and being a partner with Health Mart and how we interact with Health Mart were all the considerations into the award," said Heather.

Heather went on to commend the staff at Bartle's Pharmacy for helping it receive such an award.

"I have the best team," said Heather. "We would not be where we are without our team. I cannot say enough good things about them, they in their own way and in their own role have really brought us to the next level.

"We are blessed to have this staff that we have, we're so blessed to be in a community that supports us, we are just very lucky. It's a team effort, it definitely isn't just one person making a standout. It's us as a team working together to have a common goal."
