NORWICH – Before students returned for their first day of school on Thursday, Norwich City School District Superintendent Gerard O'Sullivan announced his upcoming retirement, effective in August 2019, to district staff on Tuesday.

O'Sullivan has been the district's superintendent for 15 years.
