Porter records hat trick in Bobcats win over Afton/Harpursville; Norwich suffers back-to-back losses

BAINBRIDGE – Bainbridge-Guilford went on to defeat Afton/Harpursville 7-0 Tuesday. The Bobcats didn’t waste anytime as they scored their first goal within the first two minutes of the game. 
B-G’s first goal came when Ryan Porter received a pass from Parker Luca. A minute later, Luca helped himself by scoring on a hustle play, putting the Bobcats up 2-0.
Porter picked up a hat trick by scoring two more times in the half. His seventh grade teammate Easton Porter added his first varsity goal to give the Bobcats a 5-0 score at halftime.
Devon Scherhaufer and Ryan Cooper each scored in the second half for the final of 7-0.
Riley Livermore of Afton/Harpursville stopped 10 B-G shots in the goal for the visiting team.
Bobcats’ keeper Zach Graham recorded his first shutout of the season.
Bainbridge-Guilford travels to Greene Thursday for a game at 5 p.m. while Afton/Harpursville will host Unadilla Valley Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Greene 3, Unadilla Valley 0
GREENE – The Trojans’ improved to 5-1 on the season after taking down MAC conference foe Unadilla Valley 3-0 Tuesday afternoon.
Greene’s Brad Taft, Spencer Klumpp and Scout McCumiskey added to their season scoring total as each Trojan scored unassisted in the game against the Storm. Greene outshot the UV 15-2 over the course of the 80 minute game.
The Storm’s Brandon Kneale held tough in the goal, stopping 12 shots.
The Trojans’ only loss this season comes from Athens, a team from Pennsylvania. They will host the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats on Thursday at 5 p.m. Unadilla Valley is on the road Friday when they visit Afton/Harpursville. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Oneonta 4, Norwich 1
NORWICH – Norwich fell victim to the undefeated Oneonta Yellowjackets 4-1 Tuesday afternoon.
The Tornado’s only goal came in the second half from senior Mujuni Mutabiilwa on an assist from his senior teammate Gabe Gawronski.
In the first half, Oneonta saw goals from four different players. The Yellowjackets Kyle Rowe, Matt Shultz, Lance Maben and Alex Bitterman each finished with a goal while Bitterman, Dylan Davi and EJ Kavrazonis recorded assists.
Saturday, Norwich traveled to Chenango Valley for a game that was rescheduled from the first week of the season.
The Warriors tacked on three goals within the first 10 minutes of the first half.
The rest of the game was held scoreless by both teams, handing Norwich their third loss of the season.
Dakota Franklin, the Tornado goalkeeper stopped 10 shots taken by Chenango Valley.
Norwich (2-4) will host their next three opponents starting with Delhi for a non-league game at Perry Browne Intermediate school at 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. The following day, they will face Seton Catholic at 4 p.m. on the high school turf field.

Holland Patent 3, Sherburne-Earlville 1
HOLLAND PATENT – Lack of defensive discipline and poor offensive execution hurt the Sherburne-Earville Marauders as they fell 3-2 to the Purple Knights of Holland Patent Monday.
Under the wet conditions at Holland Patent, mistakes were made throughout the first half after the game began with the Marauders and the Purple Knights surrendering their own goals in the first half, giving the game a score of 1-1.
In the second half, the Holland Patent’s Aiden Woods created space just inside 18 yards and drilled a shot that went by S-E’s keeper Conor Ryan, giving the Purple Knights a 2-1 advantage.
The Marauders answered back when Nathan Morgan found Owen Rodriguez near the goal. Rodridguez fired a shot and it made its way through the Holland Patent defenders and past goalie Jon Tolpa to tie the game once again.
With 17 minutes to play, Sherburne-Earlville surrendered a penalty kick. Holland Patent’s Jack Mahana converted to give his team a one goal lead. Mahana’s goal was enough for the 3-2 for Purple Knights, their first victory of the season.
The Maruaders (2-2, 0-1) are on the road to Canastota on Wednesday as they will take on the Red Raiders under the lights at 6:30 p.m.
Holland Patent 3, Sherburne-Earlville 2

Otselic Valley 2, Stockbridge Valley 1
OTSELIC – A hard-fought, thrilling 2-1 victory for Otselic Valley over league foe Stockbridge Valley pushed the Vikings to an overall record of 3-1 on the season Friday afternoon.
OV’s Levi Lyon stole the ball and beat a the Stockbridge Valley defender to the end line. He then sailed a pass across the field to a streaking Jaxin Davis. Davis then beat the goalie to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead early.
Later in the half, Stockbridge Valley’s Kaleb Jones turned a penalty kick into a 1-1 tie after placing the ball into the back of the net.
The game went into the half time break tied at 1-1 and remained that way through the end of regulation.
In the sudden death overtime, Oteslic Valley was awarded corner after corner. On the last one, Garrett Wood placed his corner in the area where teammate Carter Smith was running to. As the pass from Wood was perfectly timed, Smith drilled the ball past SV’s keeper Wyatt Reed for the winning goal.
“Jaxin Davis did some work on the front line for us, possessing the ball, distributing, and scoring,” said Vikings’ head coach Jake Preston. “Our back four did a great job shutting down their offense. It was a crazy finish and we prevailed.”
Otselic Valley will look for third straight win when they face McGraw Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
