Primary elections in Chenango County today
CHENANGO COUNTY – Primary elections are taking place today from noon to 9 p.m. at 22 poll locations in Chenango County for a number of state, assembly, and local government candidates seeking election in November.
Republican voters in Assembly District 122 will choose to endorse a candidate between incumbent Clifford W. Crouch and candidate Nicholas R. Libous. Assembly District 122 includes residents of Norwich, North Norwich, New Berlin, Preston, German, Smithville, Oxford, Guilford, Greene, Coventry, Bainbridge and Afton.
Crouch will also appear under the Reform party ticket, and Libous will also appear under the Conservative party ticket.
Registered Democrats in Chenango County will be able to vote in primaries for New York State Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General.
For state governor, registered Democrats will choose between candidates Cynthia E. Nixon and Andrew M. Cuomo. For lieutenant governor, Democrats will choose between candidates Kathy C. Hochul and Jumaane Williams. For attorney general, Democrats will choose between candidates Sean P. Maloney, Letitia A. James, Leecia R. Eve, and Zephyr Teachout.
A variety of local primaries deciding Republican candidates for the November general election will also take place.
Registered Republicans of the Town of Guilford will be able to vote for two of three candidates seeking seats on the Guilford Republican Committee. The candidates are George J. Seneck, Linda J. McNerney, and Gilda P. Ward.
Registered Republicans of the Town of Preston will be able to vote for two of three candidates seeking seats on the Preston Republican Committee. The candidates are Sheri L. Howe, Bradley A. Vickers, and Donald W. MacIntosh.
Registered Republicans of the Town of McDonough will vote to endorse a candidate for McDonough Town Clerk between candidates Shirley R. Cook and Pamela S. Streichert.
Primary elections for the Reform party will be held to decide a candidate for attorney general. Candidates Nancy B. Regula, Michael Diederich, Jr., and Christopher B. Garvey are each seeking the seat.
While voters are only permitted to vote in primary elections for parties with which they are registered, registered voters who are not affiliated with a party are permitted to vote in the Reform party primaries.
