Norwich golf handed a loss on senior night

NORWICH – The Purple Tornado hosted their last home match of the season against Chenango Forks on Monday afternoon and honored their two seniors, Alex Gage and Griffin Clipston, before the contest started.

Chenango Forks, 8-1 coming into the match, spoiled senior night for Gage and Clipston by downing Norwich 214-236.

Gage led the Purple Tornado with a nine-hole round score of 40 with senior teammate finishing just four strokes behind him with a 44.

Forks was led by the top medalist of the match, Ryan Locke who turned in a 39 for the afternoon.

Norwich’s John Ryan was third in his team’s top five, shooting a 50 while teammates Kai Sheer and Cameron Birtch tied with a 51 to round out the Tornado scored.

This is Norwich’s second loss in a row as they were defeated by Seton Catholic 202-223 last Thursday at Traditions at the Glen.

Gage once again led the Purple Tornado with a 39 and Clipston finished with a 42. Scheer came in next with a 44 and both Ryan and Nate Revoir ended the day shooting a 49.
