NHS Sports Hall of Fame dinner to be held next week; Dinner tickets now on sale
NORWICH – The Norwich High School Sports Hall of Fame is holding its induction dinner and ceremony for the class of 2018 at 5:30 p.m. on October 13.
Individual athletes Don Chirlin (class of ‘53), Pat Quinn (class of ‘58), and Tom Seary (class of ‘81), along with the 1948 Tennis Team, and former coach John Pluta, were each given the hall of fame nod earlier this year.
“Norwich athletics has long been that common bond that this community has rallied around for well over 100 years,” said member of the NHS Sports Hall of Fame Committee Scott Ryan.
The dinner will be held in the Norwich High School cafeteria starting at 5:30 p.m. The dinner requires the purchase of a ticket at a cost of $18 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the Norwich Middle School main office or by contacting Ryan at sryan@norwichcsd.org.
Following the dinner, the induction ceremony will take place in the gymnasium and is free for all to attend.
NHS Sports Hall of Fame members and their accomplishments are memorialized through the display of trophies, plaques, and banners that adorn the walls of Norwich High School.
Ryan said by recognizing Norwich’s outstanding athletes, teams, and coaches from the past, the Hall of Fame aims to honor them while inspiring present-day athletes by showcasing the proud tradition of Norwich sports, and to enhance the image of NHS.
