Greene combines for 14 goals in shut out wins

NEW BERLIN – The Greene Trojans boys soccer team scored seven goals in back-to-back games on Wednesday and Thursday, defeating two MAC league opponents.

The Trojans rifled off 26 shots throughout Thursday’s game, finding the back of the net seven times on their way to the win over Unadilla Valley. Greene led 3-0 after the first half.

Spencer Klumpp, Mikey Repp and Brad Teft each tallied two goals each for the Trojans against the Storm. Teammate Brandon Whitaker tacked on the other goal for Greene.

Unadilla Valley’s keeper Brandon Kneale had a busy day between the posts, making 20 stops in the contest.

A day earlier, the Trojans had a 6-0 advantage in the first half against Afton/Harpursville and recorded another goal in the second half to win 7-0.

Taft picked up a hat trick while teammates Whitaker, Eric Repp, and Alec Frair also scored a goal en route to their win at home Wednesday. Mikey Repp, Klumpp, River McCumiskey and Jack Cutia also added an assist to one of the goals scored by the Trojans.

Afton/Harpursville’s goalie Riley Livermore stopped 14 shots taking by Greene in the contest while the home team’s defense did not allow one shot to be taken.

The Trojans are now 11-1 on the season and ranked No. 7 in Class C in the last New York State rankings released on October 3. Greene hosts Union-Endicott Monday night at 7 p.m. for a non-conference contest.
