Warriors earn road win over Purple Tornado

NORWICH – The Purple Tornado swim team won one event and saw several second and third place finishes throughout their meet Friday, but Chenango Valley won with a final score of 82-43.
Norwich’s 200 yard freestyle relay foursome of Aiden Collins, Cameron Pittsley, Dakota Spina and Griffen Frank captured the lone first place event for the home team. The group won the race with a time of 1:45.01, beating out CV’s squad by nearly 10 seconds.
The Tornado saw four second place finishes, including Ayden Hagar’s 59.42 in the 100 yard freestyle event. Jonathan Ryan came in second for the 100 yard backstroke while the same team that won the 200 yard relay secured a second place time of 4:04.44 in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
Hunter Wenzel also grabbed second place in the longest race of the meet, the 500 yard freestyle.
The 200 yard medley relay team of Frank, Ryan Loeffler, Ryan and Collins took third to start the meet off while Frank added a third place finish in the 50 yard freestyle event with a time of 25.07.
Norwich’s next meet is scheduled for Friday when they travel to Susquehanna Valley. Meet is slated to start at 5:30 p.m.
