Norwich wrestling loses close dual meet on the road

CHENANGO FORKS – Norwich won six bouts, including four by pinfall, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Chenango Forks on in the road match Wednesday night as Forks won with a final score of 45-35. 

The dual meet came down to the last two matches of the night. With the Blue Devils holding a 10 point lead, the Purple Tornado needed at least a pin and a major decision win to tie the match. 

Norwich’s Tyler Rice needed just 42 seconds to win the 285 pound bout, pinning his Chenango Forks opponent to pull his team within four points of a tie and five points to win.

In the final bout of the night, the Tornado’s Max Morris held on as long as he could in his match at 99 pounds but Forks’ Tyler Ferarra made his move to pin the Norwich youngster with less than a minute remaining in the final period. 

The match started off with back-to-back wins for the Tornado wrestlers as the 113 pound bout kicked off the STAC meet action. 

Andrew Brown of Norwich needed one move and 30 seconds before coming out with a victory by pinfall, giving his team a 6-0 lead. Teammate Dante Geislinger added five points to the Tornado’s team total after a 15-0 tech fall early in the second period.
