Norwich pins five to top Sabers, 66-21
CONKLIN – The match between Norwich and Susquehanna Valley started off at 132 pounds and a Tornado win as Joey Marvin pinned the Sabers’ Richie Diffendorf in 44 seconds. From there, Norwich rolled to the STAC divisional with, 66-21.
The Purple Tornado’s Dakota Powers followed Marvin’s with pin of his own, coming in the second period to give Norwich a 12-0 lead early in the match.
With Kegan Wright earning a forfeit at 145 pounds, Norwich extended their lead by six points.
As he was recently named cnywrestling.com’s Section IV wrestler of the week, Mikey Squires of the Tornado continued to prove why he is one of the top wrestlers at 152 pounds with his pin over Edwin Lavin. Of his 18 matches this season, Squires has lost just two while winning nine by pinfall.
Sus Valley scored their first points of the match at 160 points as Kay Leonard picked up a 6-3 decision win over Norwich’s Austyn Hatton. Besides a pin at 182 pounds, the rest of the Sabers points came due to Tornado forfeits.
Norwich gained another win at the 170 bout when Angel Francis pinned Sus Valley’s Colton Repsher at 5:12.
Tyler Rice picked up the final pin of the night for the Tornado as he took down the Sabers’ Brian Titus in 55 seconds.
Norwich earned the rest of their points in the match due to Sus Valley forfeits at 99, 106, 113, 120 and 126 pounds.
